A: Tervis has been making fabulously fun, insulated drink ware right here in America for 66 years. Tervis is more than drink ware; it’s a lifestyle that’s truly an everyday on-the-go outlet to express yourself.
Q: What are your best selling products? Describe how it is made.
A: Tervis is best known for our tumblers, which were created in 1946 when two Detroit engineers, Frank Cotter and G. Howlett Davis, harnessed the natural insulating powers of air to create a permanently sealed, double-walled “tumbler”.
Cotter and Davis really knew they were on to something big when they realized their unique creation not only kept hot drinks hot and cold drinks cold, but was also virtually indestructible Talk about a game-changer! Combining the last three letters of each of their last names, Cotter and Davis dubbed their new cup brand “Tervis.”
With a lifetime guarantee, Tervis tumblers keep hot drinks hot and cold drinks cold, are virtually indestructible, are microwave, dishwasher and freezer safe, reduce condensation, and can be personalized for any hobby or interest. In fact, Tervis has thousands of designs to choose from, including license agreements with some of the world’s most beloved brands and sports teams.
Q: Why manufacture in America?
A: In the 1950s, the Donelly family purchased the Tervis product rights from the original creators of the insulated, double-walled tumblers, Detroit engineers Frank Cotter and G. Howlett Davis. The Donelly family incorporated the Tervis Tumbler Company in 1967, and to this day all Tervis products are proudly made in America in North Venice, Florida, where 700 people are employed at this family-owned-and-operated business. Tervis believes in keeping jobs in America, and is proud of the company’s rich American-made history and family operated values.
