Q: Describe your company.
A: Mr. Chain, trade name for M R Products, is the original and leading proprietary Manufacturer of crowd control plastic chains and stanchions. Mr. Chain was incorporated on May 16, 1960 by Michael T. Russo. Mr. Russo was an engineering student at Ohio State University in 1941. When Pearl Harbor was attacked he left school to join the Army Air Corps. After returning home as the first Mustang Ace and the only A-36 Ace in World War II, he started his own plastic injection molding business.
Mr. Chain offers the widest selection of sizes, styles and colors of plastic chain throughout the plastic manufacturing industry. In addition to the extensive selection of chain, we produce plastic stanchions in four different sizes and a large assortment of accessories to fit all your crowd control and safety needs. Mr. Chain also offers a wide variety of lawn and garden items including decorative edging, flower pots and seed pack holders.
Q: What are your best selling products?
A: Plastic chain is our best 
selling product, accounting for about 45% of our sales. Standard 2” chain holds steady in the lead with 1½” close behind. Yellow is our best selling color as it is mainly used to draw attention to safety hazards. Along with yellow, we offer 17 additional colors of plastic chain in nine standard sizes, and three styles.
Q: Describe how it is made?
A: The ball tops, and bases are injected molded, and the poles are extruded. The chain and stanchions are made of high density polyethylene and contain additives to retard fading in direct sunlight. Our colors are formulated without lead, phthalates or other heavy metals. We recycle all our materials and use everything so we have no scrap.
Q: Why manufacture in America?
A: We are committed to shipping within a day or two of receiving orders. Since our customers expect quick delivery, we make all our products in our own facilities located in Northern Michigan. We have a very loyal workforce, and more than half of our employees have been with us for more than 10 years. Finally, the savings we might realize from producing overseas would be offset by the lack of control over quality, as well as the huge expense involved in moving several pieces of very large, heavy equipment, or purchasing replacement equipment.
Most importantly, we believe in American manufacturing, and will do whatever possible to preserve it in our little corner of the world.
